Hermeneutics and practice

If we place so much emphasis and value on the original historical setting in which the New Testament witness emerged, we may easily conclude that it has little to say to us today. I think that conclusion is wrong. If anything, the narrative-historical method makes the New Testament more, rather than less relevant for the post-Christendom church, because it foregrounds the existential crisis that faced the people of God in the first century.
