Galatians 2

Then through fourteen years again I went up to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking with (us) also Titus. 2 I went up according to revelation; and I set before them the gospel which I preach among the nations, but privately to those being recognised, lest somehow I may be advancing or ran in vain. 3 But not even Titus being with me, a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised. 4 But because of the false-brothers brought-in-surreptitiously, such as intruded to spy out our freedom which we have in Christ Jesus, in order that they might enslave us, 5 to whom we did not yield for an hour for submission, so that the truth of the gospel might continue for you. 6 From those being recognised as something—of what sort they were once makes no difference to me; God does not receive face from a person—for to me those being recognised added nothing.

7 But on the contrary having seen that I have been entrusted with the gospel of the uncircumcision as Peter of the circumcision— 8 for the one having worked in Peter for an apostleship of the circumcision worked also in me to the Gentiles— 9 and having come to know the grace given to me, James and Cephas and John, those being recognised as pillars, gave a right hand of fellowship to me and Barnabas, in order that we to the nations, they to the circumcision, 10 only that we might remember the poor, which thing itself indeed I was conscientious to do.

11 But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he was condemned. 12 For before some (people) came from James, he was eating with the Gentiles. When they came, he was drawing back and separating himself, fearing those from the circumcision. 13 And the rest of the Jews [also] acted-hypocritically with him, so that also Barnabas was led away by their hypocrisy. 14 But when I saw that they are not walking-consistently regarding the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of all, “If you being a Jew live Gentile-like and not Jew-like, how do you compel the Gentiles to Judaise?

15 We (are) by nature Jews and not sinners from (the) Gentiles, 16 having known that a person is not justified from works of (the) law unless through faith in Jesus Christ, and we believed in Christ Jesus, in order that we might be justified by faith in/of Christ and not from works of (the) law, because from works of (the) law no flesh will be justified.

17 If, seeking to be justified in Christ, we ourselves were also found (to be) sinners, then Christ (is) a servant of sin? Let it not be! 18 For if what I destroyed these things again I build up, I prove myself (to be) a transgressor. 19 For I through the law to the law died, that to God I might live. With Christ I have been crucified-together. 20 No longer I live, but in me Christ lives; and what now I live in flesh, in faith I live in the Son of God, the one having loved me and having given himself for me. 21 I do not reject the grace of God; for if righteousness (is) through (the) law, then Christ died in vain.
